Best Selling Author Visits St Aidan’s Catholic Academy!

To celebrate the publication of his new book, The 1,000 year old boy, Ross Welford came into school to talk about his books and being a writer!

Ross, who is originally from the North-East is the best-selling author of Time Travelling with a Hamster, and his most recent book, The 1,000 year old Boy, is all about Alfie’s life as a 1,000 year-old teenage boy.  He told the boys that the locations for his books are inspired from his upbringing in the North East, setting his most recent books in Whitley Bay and South Shields.

The event was an absolute hit, Ross told our boys where he got his ideas from, giving them a bit of a history lesson into the English Language.  Then the most exciting part, how to write a story!  Ideas were collated, discussions were had and Ross, with the whole of year 7 came up with the plot about Henry the turtle, a square headed penguin named Will and the mission to 10 Downing Street to find Henry’s shell!  Surely this will be the next best seller…

After all of the excitement, eager fans queued in line to have their favourite Ross Welford books signed by the man himself!  A truly exciting and inspiring morning.
