Mental Health Charter Mark
October 5, 2021
On Friday 1st October we were awarded Sunderland’s Bronze Award their Mental Health Charter Mark.
Four assessors spent 4 hours in school analysing the offer that have in place for all pupils, parents and staff.
They noted the schools strengths as being:
- The culture and ethos of the school are clearly embedded and visible.
- The core values and learning habits of the school held within the metaphor of the ‘mountain’ is very powerful and consistent across everyone we spoke to.
- The range of inclusive enrichment opportunities offered to pupils as well as your outreach into the community (such as your Wellbeing Group).
- Addressing Mental Health in such an open way to parents and students is helping de-stigmatise the topic. This is particularly powerful in an all-male setting.
- We loved to see your promotion of aspirations for the students through corridor displays and alumni – which promotes self-esteem and intrinsic motivation.
