Parent Governor Vacancy

May 18, 2021

Are you interested in becoming a Parent Governor?

What does this role involve?

The parent governor role is strategic rather than operational. Governors don’t get involved with the day to day running of a school, instead supporting and challenging the school’s leadership team to drive school improvement.

Parent governors usually attend around 6 meetings a year. Being a parent governor is a commitment and a responsibility, but offers you the chance to see first-hand the impact you can make in improving education for children in your community.

This is a voluntary role.

What skills do I need?

A parent governor will need the following skills:

• a strong commitment to the role and to improving outcomes for children;

• the inquisitiveness to question and analyse, and the willingness to learn;

• good inter-personal skills;

• appropriate levels of literacy in English;

• sufficient numeracy skills to understand basic data.

How long is this for?

The term of office for this vacancy is 4 years.

I am interested.  What do I do now?

We have one vacancy.  To express your interest or for further information please contact Mrs Hogg via email at gemma.hogg@staca.co.uk by 28th May 2021.
