Big Night In 2019

July 15, 2019

On Friday 12th July St Aidan’s Catholic Academy staff and students were involved in raising money for Sunderland Cancer patients. This is an Annual event where we try and remember all of our loved ones who have lost their lives or are battling Cancer at the moment.

As the theme this year was ‘movies ‘ the boys were asked to write their lost loved ones on a star during form time and then there was a walk of fame with the stars and lit candles. It was very moving experience and the boys showed great respect during the memorial.

To conclude the day the staff and their friends and family came back along to school where the hall was transformed into ‘Big night in at the Movies’. Once again it was an amazing night tinged with sadness as we watched a video showing past students and staff from St Aidan’s who have lost their battle but are always in our thoughts and prayers and will not be forgotten!

We managed to raise an amount of £1,050.00 from the event which will be presented to a representative from Sunderland Cancer Patient Support this week. This means that this amount added to our previous events we have managed to raise a staggering amount of nearly £14,000 over six years to support our local hospital.

We would like to personally thank our local businesses in our community who sponsored our event by donating prizes for the draw.

Roll on next year!
