Our building works

The Future of St. Aidan’s Catholic Academy

We are pleased to share an update on the exciting new build project at St. Aidan’s Catholic Academy, delivered in partnership with Bowmer & Kirkland (B&K). This development represents a significant investment in the future of our school community, providing modern, high-quality facilities designed to enhance learning, wellbeing, and opportunities for every pupil.

The new build has been carefully planned to meet the needs of both the Academy and the wider community. B&K have worked closely with staff, governors, and stakeholders to ensure the design reflects our Catholic ethos, while also creating flexible, sustainable spaces that will serve generations to come.

The completed facilities will mark a new chapter for St. Aidan’s—one that celebrates our legacy while embracing innovation, ensuring that our pupils continue to thrive in an inspiring, world-class environment.

Timeline:

Now that some of our old buildings have been demolished we are entering the exciting phase of developing foundations and constructing the steel frame of our new teaching block.

From October onwards the new steel frame will be visibly assembled and by early Spring 2026 we will be able to see the facade of the building being constructed.

Bowmer and Kirkland intend to hand the state of the art teaching block over to the school in the academic year of 2026-2027. This phase will see our pupils move into our brand new teaching classrooms, vast reading room, impressive dining space and new performance hall.

After this phase, the building work will begin to focus on removing the current teaching block to allow our new sixth form centre and sportshall to be built. The final phase of our work will be to demolish the current sportshall and create our Multi Use Games Area.

 Legacy:

We have many features in our current building which we will be protecting as we move into our new surroundings. We will be taking with us the personalised bricks in the upper room, the memorial trees we have in our gardens and our hall of fame images which were kindly donated to us by ex-pupils and their families to celebrate their legacies.

We will also be creating a timeline in our new building which celebrate the rich history of our academy over the past nearly 100 years. If you have any images you would like to share with us from your own past in our community please send them to alumni@staca.co.uk
